Aylesford School and Sixth Form College was last inspected by OFSTED in September 2012 and received a very good report that was published in late October 2012. It highlighted the good quality of teaching based on ‘very strong relationships of trust and respect’. The report notes that lessons typically have an ‘excited buzz of learning’ and teachers are ‘passionate about student success.’ Inspectors also recognised the ‘deep seated concern shown by staff at all levels for student welfare and wellbeing’ and the ‘unrelenting appetite for improvement’ demonstrated by the head teacher and other leaders. The full report is available to read on both the school and OFSTED websites.
I am delighted with the outcome of this report that is extremely positive across all areas of the inspection criteria. We will, however, not rest on our laurels but renew our efforts to further develop the school for the benefit of our young people from this point onwards.
To move the school from Good to Outstanding the report recommends that we should:-
Maximise opportunities for students to be more active in learning so that their progress is accelerated
Systematically share the outstanding practice evident in the school to help lift more of the teaching to the very best
These comments will remain in our aims, aspirations and ambitions for the coming years.
