Primary School Teaching Assistant Level 1

Aylesford Primary School opened its doors in September 2015 with a hard working, supportive and professional team of staff that are dedicated to creating a positive learning journey for our children.

The Governing body is seeking to appoint Teaching Assistant Level 1 who will work on a one to one basis with a specified child. The post is to offer support and supervision both in the classroom and over the lunchtime break.  If the child is absent they will work as a general Level 1 Teaching Assistant. 

The post is a part time role, 15 hours per week term time only, initially for a temporary one year contract. As the post is directly to support an individual child the contract only remains in place while the child is at the school.

Hours: 15 hours per week, 12pm to 3pm Monday to Friday

Contract: Term time only plus teacher training days = 39 weeks

Salary: Grade D, P10-13 (£14,378.32 - £14,828.53) = £5829.05 per annum pro rata

The successful candidate should be prepared to work hard, be flexible and respond positively to the challenges of day to day school life and have high expectations of both achievement and behaviour. 

They will need to demonstrate:

  • A good level of numeracy & literacy skills
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Experience of working with children (employed or voluntary) and delivering one to one support
  • The ability to establish good working relationships with children, colleagues and parents within our community
