Autumn Term
This is term our topic is 'Towers, Tunnels and Turrets'
This term, our topic will be ‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets' where we will be exploring and discussing everything about castles, kings and queens. As always, we will be covering this across the curriculum and have planned some creative and exciting ways to learn!
Our Literacy key text is: Rapunzel
We will be discussing the text and inferencing the characters thoughts and feelings, creating story maps as well as retelling the story in our own words.
Reading
Reading is very important for children to enhance their reading skills. They are: exposed to new vocabulary that they can apply in their learning, as well as their speech and language; able to develop and apply their inference skills; and discuss and explain different types of books.
Once you have listened to your child read, please sign their Reading Record. Once children have read three or more times a week, they will recieve a star on their chart to earn an achievement.
The children will have Maths homework each week set in their Maths Practise Journals.
We then ask if children can spend 10 minutes a week on NumBots building their mathematical fluency.
Homework should be completed to the same high standards that we expect of work done during school time and it should be handed in on time. Your child should be spending about 30 minutes on each piece of work. We hope that children may feel motivated to spend a little loner when the task engages them!
