I am Mrs Compton and I will teach you on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.
We are so excited to be your teachers this year and can't wait to see what the year ahead brings.
Autumn Term
‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets!’
This terms topic is, ‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets!’ The children will find out about different features of a castle, look at where famous castles are around the world and research famous Kings and Queens through the ages. We will take a cross curricular approach involving English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Music, Art, DT and Computing.
Our Literacy key text is: Rapunzel
Our literacy work will focus on children being able to structure a sentence correctly. They will learn how to use punctuation such as capital letters and full stops. We will also write recounts about real events that have happened, e.g. our trip to Warwick Castle.
Reading
Reading is very important for children to enhance their reading skills. They are: exposed to new vocabulary that they can apply in their learning, as well as their speech and language; able to develop and apply their inference skills; and discuss and explain different types of books.
Once you have listened to your child read, please sign their Reading Record.
Once children have read three or more times a week. Reading books and records need to be in school every day.
The children will have Maths homework each week set in their Maths Practise Journals.
We then ask if children can spend 10 minutes a week on NumBots building their mathematical fluency.
Homework should be completed to the same high standards that we expect of work done during school time and it should be handed in on time. Your child should be spending about 30 minutes on each piece of work. Homework is due in every Monday and set on a Tuesday.
Spelling Shed homework will begin in Autumn Term 2.
